PODGORICA -- An Italian court has dismissed an indictment against Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Dukanovic for cigarette smuggling because he has diplomatic immunity.

According to Montenegrin media, the Anti-Mafia Regional Directorate in Bari recently called for the case against Dukanovic to be closed, but called for charges to be pressed against five other Montenegrin citizens who are suspected of mafia association and involvement in cigarettes smuggling between 1994 and 2002.

Charges are expected to be pressed against the serving president of National Auditing Senate and former Finance Minister Miodrag Ivaniševic, Dušanka Jeknic, an adviser in the Montenegrin embassy in Ljubljana, and businessmen Veselin Barovic, Branislav Micunovic and Branko Vujoševic.
