NEZAVISNE NOVINE
Former Bosniak (Bosnian Muslim) army commander, Zulfikar Alispago, was arrested in Sarajevo on Monday for war crimes related to the killing of 22 Bosnian Croats, including 19 civilians, during an attack on the southern village of Trusina during Bosnia's 1992-95 war. During the war, Alispago served as a commander of the special military unit "Zulfikar" that is believed to have carried out the mass killing during the attack in April 1993. “Alispago is suspected of war crimes and crimes against civilians. Although he knew that his subordinates committed crime, he has failed to take necessary and reasonable measures to punish the perpetrators,” prosecution spokesman Boris Grubesic told the newspaper. “Prosecutors have collected sufficient evidence to support the claim that the suspect is responsible for the crimes committed and will ask for him to be placed in detention,” he added.
