Zeitung: Serbischer Krimineller griff KFOR im Kosovo an
Belgrad (dpa) - Der serbische Kriminelle Zvonko Veselinovic soll nach Geheimdienstinformationen mit 20 bewaffneten Getreuen die internationale Schutztruppe KFOR in Norden des Kosovo angegriffen haben. Das berichtete die größte serbische Zeitung «Blic» am Donnerstag in Belgrad unter Berufung auf den früheren Außenminister Vuk Draskovic. Im Norden der ehemaligen serbischen Provinz Kosovo gibt es schon seit Monaten Auseinandersetzungen.
Bisher hatte Serbien die KFOR-Truppe beschuldigt, das «unbewaffnete serbische Volk» angegriffen zu haben. Bei der Auseinandersetzung am Grenzübergang Jarinje waren vergangene Woche sieben Serben und vier KFOR-Soldaten verletzt worden. Die Informationen stammten nach Darstellung von «Blic» und der Zeitung «Press» aus einer Sitzung des Sicherheitsausschusses des serbischen Parlaments. Dessen Inhalt sei zum «Staatsgeheimnis» erklärt worden.
Nach diesen Informationen griff die Gruppe von Veselinovic die KFOR-Sperrzone rings um den Grenzübergang Jarinje gemeinsam mit rund 1000 Serben an. Nachdem die KFOR-Soldaten mit Schockbomben und Gummigeschossen die Angreifer nicht bremsen konnten, sei auf beiden Seiten scharfe Munition eingesetzt worden. Veselinovic soll der führende Schmuggler von Benzin und Zigaretten in Nordkosovo sein.
Bei den jüngsten Auseinandersetzungen geht es um die Kontrolle der Grenzposten Jarinje und Brnjak, die bisher unter serbischer Verwaltung standen. Die Serben in Nordkosovo haben seit drei Wochen die gesamte Region mit 18 Straßenblockaden lahmgelegt. Sie wollen erzwingen, dass die von der albanisch dominierten Kosovo-Regierung geschickten Zöllner und Grenzpolizisten abgezogen werden.
Serbien erkennt die vor dreieinhalb Jahren ausgerufene Unabhängigkeit seiner früheren Provinz nicht an. Es unterstützt seine Landsleute in Nordkosovo mit jährlich mehreren hundert Millionen Euro.

As ‘Blic’ learns Serbian intelligence services reported to the Security Board of the Serbian Parliament that in a conflict with the KFOR at Jarinje checkpoint, Serbs were led by a smuggler from the north of Kosovo Zvonko Veselinovic and his group of about twenty armed people.

What has actually happened at alternative administration checkpoint at Jarinje?
According to the intelligence Veselinovic’s group raised at night a barricade by the very KFOR camp. The KFOR understood it as a provocation and in early morning hours conquers the barricade, places barbwire and begins pulling the barricade down.
Three hours and a half later group of about twenty Serbs led by Veselinovic attacks the KFOR and the KFOR responds with shock bombs and rubber bullets. Serbs run away. About noon almost one thousand Serbs flock at the scene.
Soon there arrives a truck with about twenty Veselinovic’s armed men who also have scissors for barbwire cutting. They move towards barricades. The KFOR try to prevent them with rubber bullets and shock bombs, but the truck continues to move ahead. When it approaches the barbwire and the KFOR soldiers, about fifteen members of the KFOR American contingent come out in an attempt to stop the truck. Skirmishes between Serbs and the KFOR soldiers begin.
