BELGRADE -- Seven people have been stabbed in Belgrade last night during the new year festivities by a still unidentified attacker.
Five Serbians and two Tunisians are among the victims, the authorities said, and added that they were all receiving medical treatment.
All victims are men, while three of them suffered what the doctors qualified as serious, however, not life-threatening injuries.
The incident happened in the street near Belgrade's National Theater building.
The police are still looking for the perpetrator, who they believe was "mentally unstable".
Goran Stamenković of the Belgrade police explained that the man "did not go around wielding the knife", but instead stabbed people randomly as be passed by them, "while other revelers didn't even notice".
Elsewhere, five traffic accidents were reported in Belgrade, resulting in one serious injury. The Medical Emergency Service responded to 93 calls during the night.
