Ghana confirms the withdrawal of the recognition of Kosovo

Ghana’s deputy foreign minister, Charled Owiredu, told AFP on Tuesday that his country has decided to withdraw the recognition of Kosovo as an independent state. The reasons were communicated to Serbia in a letter, he said. “The decision to recognise Kosovo turned out to be premature”, the letter said of its recognition in 2012. The confirmation came a day after Serbia’s foreign minister, Ivica Dacic, told media in Belgrade that this African country has decided to reverse the recognition of Kosovo, thus becoming, as Dacic claimed, the 16th country to withdraw its recognition of Kosovo.
