PRIŠTINA -- At least four people died and more than a
dozen others were injured in a strong explosion at the "Kosovo A" power
plant near Obilić, local media are saying.
The explosion happened in the part of the power plant managed by the Energy Corporation of Kosovo, whose official Arben Duka said the blast was "terribly strong."
The Express daily writes on its website that the explosion was heard in many parts of Priština, and damaged the property of those who live near the plant.
According to reports earlier in the day, the likely cause of the accident was a hydrogen leak in the electrolysis unit.
Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci was later quoted as saying that a gas container had exploded.
